The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 Will pray for death, 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
