The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
