The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
