The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
