The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
