The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
