The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
