The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
