The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
