The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
