The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 will be easy, 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
