The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
