The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
