The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
