The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
