The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
