The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
