The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
