The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
