The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
