The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 shall call for destruction 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
