The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
