The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
