The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
