The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
