The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 he shall call for destruction 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
