The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 shall call for destruction 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
