The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
