The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
