The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
