The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
