The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
