The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 will be easy, 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
