The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
