The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
