The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 shall call for destruction 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
