The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 shall call for destruction 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
