The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
