The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
