The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 shall call for destruction 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
