The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
