The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
