The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
