The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 when earth is stretched out 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
