The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
