The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 shall call for destruction 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
