The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
