The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
