The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 will be easy, 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
