The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
